Astrology Notes – April 2009
Are you feeling the expectancy in the air these days? The birds are singing their mating and ‘eggs’ songs; tree branches are changing colour, especially the willows, and buds are busting; pussy willows have been out for weeks, if you noticed; spring and warmer weather are springing forth.
We are coming to the end of the fires of enthusiasm and new beginnings of Aries. The pattern has been etched and soon (early evening of April 19 until May 20) the stabilizing energies of Taurus will ease in bringing with it the full manifestation of the promises of Aries. Tulips and lilacs, trees in full leaf, baby birds in the nests, these are the signs of earthy Taurus. Aries makes the beginning; Taurus gets the job done.
Taurus is the seeker of enlightenment. Often this process happens through the appreciation of beauty, which Taureans (ruled at the personality level by Venus) do better than any other sign (except possibly Librans, also ruled by Venus). The soul motto for Taurus is ‘I see, and when the Eye is opened, all is Light’.
Taurus is represented by the bull, and the bull’s eye corresponds to the ‘third eye’, the Ajna Centre, which, when opened, gives clairvoyance. Opening the ability to see truly is the true work of the Taurean and all of us when the Sun is passing through this sign.
Many of you will remember reading ‘The Celestine Prophecy’ back in the 90’s. Remember how the hero was taught that looking for beauty (often that which shines with an inner light) is the clue to finding one’s way and that looking at the world and other people with appreciation is the most effective way of bringing out the best in them AND in you? This is so Taurean. The act of appreciation added to the question ‘What else is possible?’ opens life up in a truly amazing way, especially when the lower mind is doing criticism and nothing seems ok. Are you up to trying this experiment? What do you have to lose? As long as you keep focusing on what you don’t like about a situation, in your personal life, or in the world at large (deep recessions, for example), you will manifest more of the same. Focus on what you appreciate, or love, or dream of, and that is what shows up in your life. That’s a promise.
Focus is another word for willpower, which is another quality of Taurus. In the out-of-balance Taurean, this may show up as stubbornness. In the balanced and joyful Taurean, willpower shows up as focus and steadfastness. I challenge you during this time of Taurus to focus steadfastly on the beauty and joyful aspects of your life to allow more of such to show up and so to let your soul shine forth. How does it get any better than this?
